Hip-pop/R&B superstar Akon has revealed he went to Turkey for two cosmetic procedures.

One was for his hair on top of his head and the other was for his teeth.

“I went to Turkey to get a procedure,” he said on the Bootleg Kev Podcast. “Don’t forget from the beginning my whole [hair] front was loose.”

On how painful the procedure was, Akon said: “The painful part is the beginning when they gotta numb you up.”

“That numbing ain’t no joke,” the ‘Smack That’ hitmaker demonstrated with his fingers how one’s head is darted multiple times with “a needle this big.”

He also revealed, one’s hair is grafted as part of the procedure; healthier hair is transplanted to an area where the hair is weak and thin.

Another revelation the Konvict Kulture founder made was he recommending the procedure to Canadian superstar Tory Lanez. He and the host had a good laugh about that.

“Turkey is known for two things: hair and teeth [procedures],” Akon noted with a hint of advertisement. “They are really good on both.”

“They specialise in hair,” he emphasised and noted even “beards” and everything else.

On how expensive the hair procedure was, Akon was categorical in saying, “It’s so affordable it’s ridiculous.”

According to the Senegalese-American millionaire, “For what I did, it would have cost me US$50,000 here in America” but “I paid what? 7,800 or 7,500 [in Turkey]. That’s it.”

The media mogul decried exorbitant healthcare prices in America.

“Here, they are overcharging. Anything related to healthcare, or any kind of medical procedure, America [charges] ten times,” he said.

Akon also said, “I work hard for this money, I don’t care,” when his frugality was questioned in the light of his wealth and how much he decided to pay for the hair transplant.

Happy to have made the right financial choice, he said: “Even the teeth procedures over there, here, the same job that people are paying 40 and 50 grand [thousand] for, they’re [Turkey] charging you 500, 7,500 dollars.”

He again disclosed that he has had a procedure done on his teeth: “The fronts, yeah, these are veneers.”

On the pain of the medical process, “Nah, that was simple,” was his comment.
