Empress Gifty on what it takes to host United Showbiz

Per “what I know, MzGee has not quit” Empress Gifty has said.
“I was only asked by management to sit in for her,” she added, concerning hosting the United Showbiz entertainment TV programme.
The Gospel star revealed she was currently doing “full-time work” with Despite Media; “it’s not on contract-basis”.
She welcomed the “challenge” of hosting the United Showbiz programme, while regular host MzGee was away for undisclosed reasons.
Nana Romeo asked Empress Gifty on Accra 100.5 FM’s midmorning programme, Ayekoo Ayekoo, why she was chosen out of the lot as the interim host.
“My brand is solid and marketable,” she genially giggled. “I’m also versatile.”
Also, “if you pay close attention, you’d notice the show was built for a woman to host,” the Watch Me singer added.
Empress Gifty noted her pleasure to serve her bosses at Accra-based UTV.
“Ultimately, I’m very much interested in seeing my remuneration alert on my phone, also,” she lightheartedly said.
The singer-songwriter-and-entrepreneur-turned-TV-personality said spoke on her experience hosting the popular United Showbiz programme.
“If you’re not a smart person, if you’re not a passionate learner, you cannot sit in that hosting chair. It’s not just a chair but a whole institution on its own. We stand in and represent the diverse viewership,” she said.
“No one should look down on or underestimate that seat. When you sit in it, you feel the heat of its mandate. Until you rise from it at the end of the programme, you don’t know what will happen. Thus, I call it ‘The you don’t know what will happen chair’.”
Hosting the United Showbiz programme, Empress Gifty said “is not scripted nor planned. Since it’s also live, anything could happen. You need to be quite smart to steer things”.
The Watch Me hitmaker concluded by noting the management of UTV and the United Showbiz programme respected her opinions, hence she was able to influence its production, avoiding some topics and discussions on the show, among other things.
