Western Regional Minister calls for strategic port positioning to boost job creation

The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has emphasized the need for a strategically positioned port of entry to enhance the activities of all institutions operating along the port business value chain.

Speaking during a meeting with the Director -General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Brigadier -General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, at the Western Regional Coordinating Council, he expressed optimism that a well-managed port could create the necessary jobs to help reduce unemployment in the country.

Unemployment, particularly among young people, remains a major concern, putting pressure on governments to find lasting solutions.

In response, port operations have been identified as a key driver of economic growth, offering an opportunity to create sustainable jobs and generate revenue.

Joseph Nelson believes that a properly positioned port in the region could be a game-changer, boosting economic activities and creating employment opportunities.

Brigadier- General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, the GPHA Director -General, assured the Minister of his full cooperation as he assumes leadership of the authority, pledging to work towards improving port operations for the benefit of the region and the country.
