President John Dramani Mahama has officially launched the Adwumawura Programme, an ambitious initiative to create at least 10,000 youth-owned businesses each year over the next four years.

Speaking at the launch event in Kumasi, President Mahama outlined the comprehensive support package the programme will offer.

This includes business development training, access to funding, coaching and mentorship, technological support, equipment and machinery access, market facilitation, and business advisory services.

He noted that a neutral, independent body would be set up to select participants based on key criteria such as scalability, sustainability, and potential for job creation.

President Mahama stressed that the Adwumawura Programme is a fulfilment of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) manifesto promise.

Unlike previous initiatives that collapsed due to a lack of funding, he assured that this programme is fully financed, with resources already allocated in the 2025 national budget.

Designed to incubate start-ups, accelerate existing businesses, and drive employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation across strategic sectors, the Adwumawura Programme is expected to be a major catalyst for economic growth.

Additionally, President Mahama announced plans to organise an annual Adwumawura Trade Fair and Exhibition.

This platform will allow beneficiaries to showcase their creativity, innovation, products, and services, while building strategic partnerships and attracting investment.

Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment,  George Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, also addressed the gathering.

He encouraged young people across the country to seize the opportunity and actively participate in the programme to transform their futures.
