President John Dramani Mahama has initiated two significant programmes aimed at combating youth unemployment and fostering entrepreneurship in Ghana.

Today, Monday, April 28, 2025, President Mahama launches the Adwumawura Programme at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi.

This flagship initiative, part of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) 2024 manifesto, is designed to create, mentor, and support at least 10,000 youth-led businesses annually.

Spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment through the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Adwumawura targets Ghanaians aged 18 to 35.

Participants will receive comprehensive support, including skills training, mentorship, startup capital, and essential equipment.

Additionally, new businesses will benefit from a two-year exemption from corporate and personal income taxes.

The 2025 Budget has allocated GH₵100 million to kickstart the programme, underscoring the government's commitment to youth empowerment and economic growth.

Continuing the week's focus on youth development, President Mahama is set to launch the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the University for Development Studies (UDS) Auditorium in Tamale.

The NAP aims to equip tens of thousands of Ghanaian youth with artisanal and vocational skills, enhancing employability and contributing to the nation's skilled workforce.

These initiatives reflect the government's strategic approach to addressing youth unemployment through entrepreneurship and skills development, positioning Ghana's youth at the forefront of national economic transformation.
