The Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold has emphasised its appeal to President Nana Akufo-Addo and the Minister of Finance Mohammed Amin Adam for “a financial bailout”.

In a statement signed by Convener and PRO Fred Forson, the coalition specified the bailout they sought was “just an amount of GHS200 million”.

The bailout programme would “help save members from further deaths,” it explained.

The coalition lamented, “So far not less than 230 customers have died as compared to less than 100 deaths when we first made the call for a bail out in 2020.”

“The assurance with our instance request is that all seized assets of Menzgold can serve as a form of guarantee. We are fully aware of the criminal case in the Court. As Customers, we have cooperated fully with the Office of the Attorney General,” the November 25 statement continued.

“Bail us out with GHS200 million which can be retrieved later when the court case is finally disposed of.”

The coalition said, “The President and Minister of Finance should please give us a response by closed of work Monday 25th November 2024.”

In conclusion, it threatened to vote towards the defeat of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the polls on December 7, if the bailout was not granted.

“Either a bail out or a vote out,” the group said.
