NDC PC Hajia Nasiru Nasira Afrah unites Sekyere Afram Plains constituents with football gala
The NDC parliamentary candidate for the Sekyere Afram Plains constituency, Hajia Nasiru Nasira Afrah, took a significant step towards uniting her constituents by organizing a football gala for the youth and people of the Sekyere Plains.
The event was graced by prominent personalities, including Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Tamale South, Mavis Kukua Bissue, NDC Parliamentary candidate for Ahanta West, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC, and Samson Deen, President of the African Paralympic Committee.
Ms. Afrah encouraged the youth to embrace unity for development and prosperity and expressed her appreciation for their peaceful conduct during the recent electoral registration exercise.
Special guest Haruna Iddrisu shared valuable advice, urging the youth to consider participating in football and pursuing education for a better future. He highlighted Black Star player Abdul Fatawu Issahaku of Leicester City FC as an example of success in both fields. He also encouraged the youth to use dialogue to improve unity in the constituency before the 2024 general election.
The day's event saw the team from Hamidu defeating Dagomba by one goal to nil in the opening match. The eight participating teams included Dagomba, Anyinofi, Drobonso, Fumsua, Hamidu, Dawia, Issahkrom, and Seneso. Drobonso emerged as the winner after a goalless draw and a penalty shootout, defeating Hamidu 3-2. The son of former president Sharaf Mahama supported Hajia Nasira in the kickoff and awards ceremony.
