Black Stars gear up for crucial AFCON qualifier against Niger with 22-man squad
The Black Stars, led by head coach Otto Addo, intensified their preparations on Saturday afternoon with a 22-man training session ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Niger.
The team, focused and determined, trained under a sense of urgency at their base, despite recent setbacks that slightly reduced their squad.
The squad size was trimmed to 22 players following the withdrawal of Istanbul Basaksehir defender Jerome Opoku, who sustained an injury on Saturday.
Additionally, Joseph Paintsil, the winger from Los Angeles Galaxy, remained in Accra due to passport issues, further depleting the team's ranks ahead of Monday's decisive match.
Despite these challenges, a strong lineup was present at the training session.
With their next challenge set for Monday, 9 September 2024, at the Municipal Sports Complex in Berkane, Morocco, the Black Stars are determined to secure a crucial victory against Niger.
