Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has acknowledged the economic challenges facing Ghanaians, particularly traders, and assured them that the next NPP administration, under Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s leadership, will remain committed to reviving the nation’s economy.

Addressing trader associations in the Okaikoi North Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, acknowledged the difficulties citizens are facing and highlighted steps taken by the government to alleviate their suffering.

During his campaign visit, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, alongside the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikoi North,  Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah Adjei, toured the bustling Lapaz Market.

The tour attracted enthusiastic support from traders, hawkers, drivers, and passengers, with chants of “Number 1” — Dr. Bawumia’s position on the ballot — echoing throughout the market as a show of support for the NPP’s vision for progress.

At the meeting with trader associations, Dr. Opoku Prempeh explained key points in the NPP’s manifesto, aiming to reassure traders of the party’s dedication to supporting their livelihoods.

He emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s readiness to implement programmes that will ensure businesses not only survive but thrive.

He urged the traders to trust in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, noting that his administration is prepared to enact impactful policies that will sustain and empower businesses across the country.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh outlined the NPP’s comprehensive plans, including tax reliefs, a simplified flat tax regime, and a reliable power supply, which resonated strongly with small business owners, women-led enterprises, and other key voting groups.

These proposals are part of a broader strategy designed to address economic hardships and fuel growth across sectors, especially in education, infrastructure, and agriculture.

Also speaking at the event were Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central;  OPK, MP for Mpraeso; and  Nana Ama Dokua, the Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikoi North.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh praised  Nana Ama Dokua’s contributions to the community, stating the shared belief among residents that she will serve with dedication and excellence as their Member of Parliament.
