President John Dramani Mahama has asked Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency in the Greater Accra Region and daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, to reach out to him for a discussion.

The request came after President Mahama delivered his maiden State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

While exchanging pleasantries with the MPs after his speech, he greeted Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings and specifically asked her to call him.

Though the reason for the request remains unclear, it followed remarks by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who criticized the President for failing to meet his promise of appointing more women to his Cabinet.

Afenyo-Markin argued that despite Mahama’s pledge to allocate 30% of Cabinet positions to women, only two women were appointed out of 19 Cabinet ministers, representing just 10%.

He suggested that capable women in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), such as Zanetor Rawlings and Helen Ntorsu, had been overlooked for key roles despite their dedication and competence.
