Omane Boamah confident of Mahama's victory despite gov't polls
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed confidence in John Dramani Mahama's chances of winning the December elections, despite government polls suggesting a potential runoff.
According to Dr. Omane Boamah, Mahama is leading with 57.3% and is on course for a decisive first-round victory.
In a statement dated September 18, 2024 following the “Enough Is Enough” demonstration, Dr. Omane Boamah dismissed the government's projections of a second-round vote as deceitful.
“Ignore the NPP government's deceit that the election will go into a runoff,” he urged supporters.
The "Enough Is Enough" demonstration, held the previous day, saw massive turnout as thousands of Ghanaians took to the streets in a show of support for Mahama and calls for electoral reforms.
Dr. Omane Boamah extended his gratitude to demonstrators, the Ghana Police Service, and both local and international media for their roles in the event.
