NDC’s ballot papers for Saturday’s polls ready – Dep Dir of Elections
The Deputy Director of Elections for the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Daniel Amartey has announced that the party is fully prepared for Saturday, December 17, 2022, national delegates’ congress slated for Accra Sports Stadium in the Greater Accra Region.
According to the Deputy Director, the ballot papers for the elections are ready and stressed they have been handed over to the Electoral Commission.
Mr Amartey made this revelation while speaking in an interview on the Accra 100.5 FM’s mid-day news on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
He was elated to say: "So far so good."
He noted that about 61 aspirants are contesting for various positions in the party.
"This number does not include the 18 that contested in the youth and women conference held at the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region last Saturday, December 10, 2022," he said.
He was quick to add that the delegates who voted at the Cape Coast conference will also be voting in the Accra congress.
He said a little over 9,000 delegates are expected to gather at the stadium to elect national officers to steer the affairs of the party going into the 2024 general elections.
He added that the party has established two congress villages at Legon and Tutu areas to receive delegates who will be leaving from other parts of the country for Accra today.
He maintained that the party is fully prepared for congress, adding that the security agencies have assured of maximum security.
He says police have explained that stemming from its experience with the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) delegates’ conference, it has devised some new measures to deal with any eventuality at the grounds.
