President-elect John Dramani Mahama has revealed that outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo has committed to ensuring a peaceful and seamless transfer of power, setting the stage for a collaborative transition between their respective administrations.

In his victory speech, delivered shortly after being officially declared president-elect by the Electoral Commission, Mahama expressed gratitude for the goodwill extended by President Akufo-Addo and emphasized the importance of unity during the transition process.

“I have just received a call from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.

He graciously congratulated me on my victory, and we discussed arrangements for the joint transition team,” Mahama disclosed.

The president-elect further announced that both teams have agreed to fast-track the transition process, with discussions scheduled to commence on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

“We have agreed on an early inauguration of the joint transition team, as early as Wednesday, to ensure a smooth handover and the continuity of governance,” Mahama stated.

He emphasized the need for cooperation and a unified approach to the transition, highlighting that the process is critical to advancing the nation’s development agenda.
