Goodluck Jonathan praises EC’s commitment after WAEF meeting
Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed confidence in the Ghanaian Electoral Commission (EC) following a meeting between the West African Elders Forum (WAEF) and the EC on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Jonathan, who led the WAEF delegation, commended the EC for its dedication and readiness to oversee successful elections ahead of Ghana’s December polls.
"We had a robust discussion with the EC. We've seen the passion and commitment they have for conducting successful elections, and what they have done so far is key,” Jonathan stated after the meeting.
“We interacted with several people before coming here, and raised all the concerns with the EC Chair Jean Mensa, and she explained them perfectly.”
The former Nigerian leader expressed full confidence in the EC’s competence and commitment to ensuring a credible electoral process.
“We have no iota of doubt about the Commission's willingness to do what is right, come the December elections,” he added.
The meeting was part of WAEF's efforts to promote peace and transparency in elections across West Africa.
