Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed deep concern over the current hardships faced by Ghanaians under the Akufo-Addo government.

Despite acknowledging the challenges, he urged citizens not to lose hope, emphasising that God's plan for Ghana is still unfolding.

Addressing the congregation of the Sanctuary of Wind and Fire Assemblies of God Church in Tamale on New Year's Eve, Mr Mahama highlighted the distress among Ghanaians, with some contemplating boycotting the 2024 polls due to prevailing difficulties.

In a message of hope, Mahama urged the electorate, especially the disillusioned youth, to participate in the democratic process by casting their votes on Election Day, December 7, 2024. He viewed the current crisis as a test of faith orchestrated by God.

"While our country, Ghana, is going through a crisis, God has not abandoned us”, the said, adding: “Even in the face of hardship, we must not give up."

Reflecting on Ghana's past glory as the Black Star of Africa, Mr Mahama expressed optimism that the nation would rise again. Despite the current challenges, he assured the congregation that the black star, symbolic of Ghana's resilience, would ascend once more.

In a rallying call, Mahama affirmed, "We are supposed to be the black star of Africa; today, that black star has fallen on the ground. But I can assure you that that black star will rise again”.
