Enough is Enough demo: EC gags all regional directors
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed that it has intercepted a directive from the Electoral Commission (EC) instructing all Regional Directors not to "make any remarks" when receiving the party's regional petitions.
The petitions are part of the NDC's "Enough is Enough" demonstration, scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 2024, which is focused on the audit of the 2024 Voters’ Register.
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the NDC's Director of Elections and IT, shared the information in a Facebook post, noting the EC's gag order and emphasizing that the party is fully aware of the directive.
In his post, Dr. Boamah hinted that the NDC would tailor its petitions accordingly, stating that they will ensure the right type of petition is presented in each region, given that the EC headquarters appears to be taking responsibility for addressing all issues.
"We note and appreciate your gag order," Dr. Boamah wrote, signalling the party’s awareness of the EC’s strategy ahead of the demonstration.
The "Enough is Enough" protest is part of the NDC's ongoing efforts to ensure transparency in the voter registration process for the 2024 general elections.
