EC 'useless' press confab targeted at diluting NDC's parliamentary strength-Omane Boamah
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed strong disapproval of a recent press conference held by the Electoral Commission (EC) Chair, Jean Mensah, describing it as an attempt to undermine the party's two-thirds majority in Parliament.
In a statement shared on social media, the NDC's Director of Elections and IT, Dr Edward Omane Boamah accused the EC of being influenced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and questioned the motives behind the press briefing.
The party alleged that the move was part of a calculated effort to dilute their parliamentary strength.
“This useless press conference by Jean Mensah has obviously been instructed by the NPP to dilute the two-thirds majority of the NDC.
But she will fail!” the statement read.
The NDC also criticized the EC Chair for allegedly avoiding critical questions by not convening an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.
The party emphasized that proper procedures must be followed to ensure transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
“At all constituencies where the declaration was not done, the EC must produce pink sheets that show the NDC won.
Instead of agreeing with our demand for an emergency IPAC meeting, she has decided to hide,” the statement continued.
The NDC reiterated its commitment to defending its parliamentary victories and maintaining vigilance over the electoral process.
It urged its supporters and Ghanaians to remain watchful, employing the hashtag #EAGLEEYES to underscore the need for continuous scrutiny.
The statement concluded with a call for action against perceived injustices:
“Organise, don’t agonise!”
