Don’t be hypocrites; be interested in Ghana having credible voters' register – Edem Agbana to Peace Council, others
The National Democratic Congress' (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ketu North Constituency in the Volta Region, Mr Edem Agbana, has called on the Peace Council and other Civil Society Organizations to actively engage in ensuring that Ghana has a credible voter’s register ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Speaking in a media interview on Tuesday, September 17, Mr Agbana criticized these bodies for their perceived silence on the ongoing concerns raised by the NDC regarding the accuracy of the electoral roll.
Mr Agbana accused the Peace Council and similar organizations of being hypocritical, stating that their current inaction contradicts their supposed mandate of safeguarding the country’s democracy.
He emphasized the importance of a transparent and credible electoral process, stressing that it is essential for the peace and stability of Ghana.
According to him, ignoring such issues could lead to tension in the upcoming elections.
He further noted that the NDC has identified several issues with the current voter register, including illegal transfers and bloating, which undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
Mr Agbana urged these Civil Society groups to prioritize the integrity of the electoral roll and support calls for a forensic audit to address these concerns.
