Dec. 7 polls: NDC projected to lead in 11 regions – Study
A recent study by SBM Intelligence projects the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to secure a lead in 11 regions in the upcoming December 7, elections.
The research suggests a slight decline in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) vote share in its stronghold, the Ashanti Region, as political parties ramp up efforts ahead of the polls.
The September 2024 report, titled ‘Ghana’s 2024 Elections: A Preview’, predicts that the NDC will win in 11 regions, including all three key swing regions, leaving the NPP with only five regions.
However, the NDC is expected to face stiff competition from the NPP in the Northern, Western North, and Oti regions.
The report also highlights that NPP Presidential Candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to bolster the party’s performance in the North East Region, with projections showing an increase in the NPP’s vote share from 51.40% to 55.8%.
This analysis comes just three months before the presidential and parliamentary elections, with political campaigns in full swing.
Earlier this month, over 20 presidential aspirants submitted their nomination forms to the Electoral Commission (EC) to contest the election.
