Dec 7 polls: Jean Mensa declares 'robust, credible, final' voters' register ready, soft copies out today
The head of the Electoral Commission (EC) Jean Mensa has declared: “We now have a robust, credible, final, certified, which is fit to deliver a credible, transparent, fair, peaceful, and glorious election, come the 7 December 2024.”
She spoke on Wednesday evening, November 6.
She noted the last Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting was had on October 15 during which political parties were provided “a template on which to report issues they had with the provisional voters’ register”.
However, she noted, no political party raised an issue.
“Two days” before the advertised date, she proudly announced “soft copies of the final, certified copies of the voters’ register for the 2024 general elections” would be made available to stakeholders of the elections.
Jean Mensa thanked God, the EC staff, political parties, and citizens, among others.
She used the “opportunity to assure you of the commission’s commitment to conducting free, fair, transparent glorious and peaceful elections come 7 December 2024, God being our helper”.
She prayed for blessings for “God’s beloved country – Ghana”.
“Now, in the exercise of my duty as the chairperson of the electoral commission of Ghana, and in fulfilment of Regulation 27 of C.I. 91, as amended by C.I. 126, I hereby declare the 2024 final voters’ register as duly certified. It is finished,” she emphasised.
