The Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya West, Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, has vowed to prevent any alleged attempts by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to manipulate the upcoming elections in the constituency.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP voiced concerns that some NPP members are plotting to sway the parliamentary election in favour of their candidate, Eugene Arhin.

Following a visit from former President John Dramani Mahama as part of his regional tour, Mrs. Agbotui renewed her commitment to defending the democratic will of her constituents.

In a constituency known for electing MPs for a single term, Mrs. Agbotui noted a shift in sentiment, with many residents determined to support her in breaking this one-term tradition by securing a second term.

“I know what my opponent intends to rig the elections, and I am putting it on record that if he tries, he won’t get it easy,” The Awutu Senya West MP stated.

“One plus one must be equal to two and not five, so we want to make sure that the figures from the constituency tally during the elections.”

Mrs. Agbotui highlighted the importance of her continued tenure for sustainable development in Awutu Senya West, indicating that her constituents were increasingly convinced of the benefits of continuity.

“I have made the people aware that it is time to stop the one-term MP thing, and they have understood me, so I won’t sit and watch as the will of the people is manipulated because someone wants to become an MP,” she asserted.

“My people have assured me of voting for me to end the one-term thing because it regards development,” the Awutu Senya West MP added.

Confident in her potential to make history as the first MP to serve consecutive terms in Awutu Senya West, Mrs. Agbotui emphasised her commitment to electoral integrity.

She pledged to stand firm against any attempts to undermine the electoral process and ensure the voices of her constituents are accurately reflected in the results.
