The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has cautioned party supporters to reject any calls for 'skirt and blouse' voting in the upcoming elections.

He urged them to remain loyal to the party's official candidates for both Presidential and Parliamentary contests.

Addressing the party faithful during a rally, Mr. Asiedu Nketia expressed concern about individuals who campaigned for former President John Dramani Mahama while urging voters to support different Parliamentary Candidates.

He described such acts as detrimental to the party’s unity and electoral success.

“Some aspirants and their supporters are misleading voters by saying they support John Mahama for President but are pushing for independent candidates or candidates from other parties in the parliamentary race.

This behaviour is unacceptable, and the NDC will not condone it,” he warned.

The National Chairman highlighted that internal party disagreements often lead to factionalism, creating divisions that could cost the party critical seats in Parliament.

He emphasized that unity was crucial for securing a decisive victory in the December 7, elections.

“Factionalism and divisions arising from internal elections must be set aside.

We cannot allow personal interests to jeopardize our chances of winning.

Every NDC member must focus on the bigger picture—victory for John Dramani Mahama and our Parliamentary Candidates,” he stressed.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia also pointed to past instances where individuals campaigned for 'skirt and blouse' voting and later worked against the NDC in Parliament.

He cited former MPs such as Boniface Saddique Abubakar  Boniface of Salaga and Hawa Yakubu of Bawku Central as examples of this betrayal.

In a direct appeal to the people of Gomoa Central, he cautioned against supporting A Plus, an independent candidate claiming to be a friend of John Mahama.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia dismissed such claims as deceptive, urging voters to choose the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate, Kofi Lawson, alongside John Dramani Mahama for President.

“This is not the time to fall for lies and division.

If we want to secure victory and bring real development to our communities, we must vote straight for the NDC—both President Mahama and Kofi Lawson as MP,” he said.

The National Chairman reaffirmed the party’s commitment to addressing the needs of Ghanaians and called on supporters to prioritize unity and hard work to ensure a resounding victory in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
