Bawumia pledges millions of jobs for youth in economic revitalisation plan

The flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his commitment to making job creation for Ghana’s youth a top priority, pledging millions of new opportunities if elected in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Addressing young attendees at the ‘Engagement with the Youth’ event on Sunday, 3 November 2024, Dr. Bawumia laid out his vision for a youth-focused economic transformation aimed at revitalising the nation’s economy.
“I will outline the bold economic solutions we plan to roll out, which will make it possible to create millions of jobs if I’m given the mandate on December 7,” Dr. Bawumia promised, underscoring his intent to prioritise young people.
He continued that: “I have chosen this occasion to remind you, the young people, of the commitment made a year ago to make you my number one priority.”
Dr. Bawumia outlined a plan to launch a range of business-friendly policies by January 2025, geared toward boosting Ghana’s economic recovery, increasing sector-wide growth, and ensuring sustainable job creation.
“My commitment is to transform Ghana, to build on the economic recovery we are witnessing by introducing bold business-friendly policy initiatives.”
According to the NPP flagbearer, “these policies are designed to stimulate significant economic activities.”
He emphasised that the policies would not only create jobs but would also foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development, presenting young Ghanaians with unprecedented opportunities.
“I’m confident that these initiatives will create the large pool of diverse jobs that young Ghanaian people desire and deserve,” Dr. Bawumia assured.
Encouraging Ghana’s youth to unite behind his vision for an inclusive and revitalized economy, Dr. Bawumia concluded with a call to action:
“Together, let us build a brighter, more prosperous future for every Ghanaian,” he added.
