On March 20, 2025, in celebration of World Oral Health Day, the Perfect Smile Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization, extended a hand of compassion and care to the Kyebi School for the Deaf, delivering vital oral health services and education to students and staff.

Led by a team of dedicated volunteers, the outreach programme provided free dental screenings, treatments, and hygiene education to promote better oral care practices among the students.

The initiative aimed not only to improve their health but also to spread joy and build confidence through the power of a healthy smile.

Founder of the Perfect Smile Foundation, Mrs. Augustina Ephraim, emphasized the importance of maintaining oral hygiene, noting that “our teeth are central to how we express ourselves.

Smiling connects us to people, and we must take brushing seriously, morning and evening.”

She further encouraged the public to show love and support to children with hearing impairments, stressing, “They are our brothers and sisters.

Just because they cannot hear us doesn’t mean they should be left out.

Let’s get close, show them love, and celebrate with them.”

Mrs. Ephraim also made a heartfelt appeal to the public to visit the school and consider making donations to support the students' needs.

During the visit, the Headmaster of the Kyebi School for the Deaf in the Eastern Region raised serious concerns about the school’s deteriorating infrastructure.

He revealed that the boys' dormitory has broken down and the washroom facilities are in a deplorable state.

He also lamented the irregular attendance of some students, stating that many often miss entire academic terms before returning to school.

“This is a major challenge,” he said, adding that he is actively engaging parents to address the situation.

The Perfect Smile Foundation's outreach left a lasting impact, not just through dental care but through compassion and advocacy, shining a spotlight on the pressing needs of the school and calling for greater community involvement.
