The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced its parliamentary leadership team for the upcoming 9th Parliament of Ghana, following a critical National Council meeting attended by outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the party's 2024 flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin, currently the leader of the NPP caucus in Parliament, has been named Minority Leader as the party transitions into the opposition.

Asokwa MP Patricia Appiagyei has been appointed Deputy Minority Leader, making her a key figure in the party’s parliamentary hierarchy.

Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP Frank Annoh-Dompreh will take on the role of Minority Chief Whip, ensuring discipline and coordination within the caucus.

Additional appointments include Habib Iddrisu as 1st Deputy Minority Whip and Davis Opoku Ansah, MP for Mpraeso, as 2nd Deputy Minority Whip.

Notably, Davis Opoku Ansah is the only newcomer to the leadership team, replacing Alex Tetteh, the outgoing 2nd Deputy Whip, who lost his seat in the 2024 elections.

This new leadership line-up is expected to steer the NPP’s agenda in Parliament as it assumes the role of the main opposition party in Ghana’s next legislative cycle.
