Lordina Mahama, the wife of the NDC Presidential Candidate John Mahama, visited major markets across Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to campaign for her husband and the National Democratic Congress ahead of the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

During her energetic walk-through at the Race Course market, Mrs. Mahama connected directly with traders, highlighting initiatives from her husband’s platform aimed at improving their businesses and livelihoods.

She addressed persistent rumours, strongly denying claims that the NDC would cancel the Free SHS policy, and assured the women that John Mahama had no intentions of discontinuing the programme.

"Some people are telling mothers that my husband will cancel the Free SHS policy when he becomes president.

I assure you, as his wife, he has not said that anywhere.

In fact, he has great plans to improve the policy to make it better,” she emphasized, urging the traders to reject such misinformation.

Mrs. Mahama encouraged the women to vote decisively for John Mahama and NDC Parliamentary Candidates to advance the development and improve their businesses as well as their living standards.

She stressed the importance of securing a parliamentary majority for the NDC, stating that it would empower the party to implement its programmes effectively.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception from the traders, she remarked, “I am very pleased with the love you have shown me today.

This is an unforgettable moment for me and all of us.”

At Kejetia Market, the former First Lady continued to promote the NDC’s targeted policies for women and children.

Among these initiatives are plans to establish a Women’s Development Bank, a National Apprenticeship Programme, and a fee-free policy for first-year university students.

Despite alleged attempts by facility managers to disrupt the event by cutting power, the programme proceeded smoothly and concluded successfully.

Speakers at the event reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to the Ashanti Region, pledging to initiate phase two of the Kejetia Market project and to upgrade the Racecourse Market, helping traders avoid the discomfort of working under the hot sun.

Earlier in the day, Mrs. Mahama met with market representatives from Kumasi, listening to their concerns and discussing how the NDC’s policies could alleviate their challenges.
