The F. Alpha and Omega Specialist Hospital at Madina in the Greater Accra Region has marked its first anniversary with a pledge to continue delivering quality, accessible healthcare.

At a commemorative event held on April 12, 2024, Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis Sasu, lauded the hospital's contributions to healthcare in the area. He commended the leadership for their commitment and pledged to advocate for international support from institutions such as the World Bank and FIC to help replicate similar initiatives across the constituency.

Reflecting on the hospital’s journey, Managing Director Mr. Francis Fosu recounted its humble beginnings and rapid growth over the past year.

“On April 12, 2023, we began this journey to establish a facility of this magnitude.

We are proud of what has been accomplished one year on,” he said.

Mr. Fosu shared impressive operational statistics from the hospital’s first year: over 85,332 outpatient visits and 11,308 admissions or detainments, with daily OPD cases averaging between 200 and 350.

He noted that antenatal care and deliveries were offered completely free of charge to NHIS card-holding pregnant women, resulting in 75 cesarean sections over the year.

The surgical department also recorded significant activity, performing 140 surgeries, including 40 hernia repairs and 15 appendectomies, among other major and minor procedures.

A key highlight of the hospital's operations has been its partnership with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), which enabled free NHIS registration and renewals for all, facilitating immediate access to care.

Staff capacity has grown significantly, rising from an initial 35 clinical and non-clinical personnel to over 80 within one year—an indication of increasing patient demand and service expansion.

Mr. Fosu expressed gratitude to the hospital’s dedicated staff, especially the clinical team and orderlies, who ensure a clean and safe environment.

He also credited his wife, Mrs. Rita Fosu, for her steadfast support and shared commitment to the hospital’s vision.

“With the lessons of the past year, we are confident in setting even higher goals for the year ahead.

We welcome all stakeholders to support our mission of transforming healthcare in Madina,” he said.

Located on a three-acre property at Madina Powerland, near Ritz Junction, the four-storey facility provides a broad spectrum of services including general outpatient and inpatient care, specialist surgery, pediatrics, antenatal, obstetrics, and gynecology.

Two new departments—the IVF Center and a Premium Center—were officially launched during the anniversary celebration. Mr. Fosu explained that the Premium Center was established to meet the needs of clients who prefer personalized, non-NHIS services.
