Voter roll: NDC urges EC to broadcast meeting live for transparency
The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is demanding that its upcoming meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) be broadcast live to ensure transparency as they discuss critical issues related to the Provisional Voters Register (PVR) for the December 7 general elections.
In a formal request to the EC, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey emphasised the importance of public visibility in the discussions.
"A live broadcast of the meeting will ensure transparency of the engagement," Mr. Kwetey stated in the letter.
This request follows an earlier communication from the NDC on Tuesday, 27 August 2024, where the party urged the EC to convene a meeting to address "very serious discrepancies discovered during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise."
These discrepancies, according to the NDC, were identified through an analysis of the Provisional Voters Register provided by the EC and the voter lists exhibited at various centres.
The NDC, alongside other concerned groups, has raised alarms over inconsistencies observed during the voter register exhibition period, which took place from August 20 to August 27.
