UE/R: Kusaug youth disappointed in Mahama's handling of Bawku conflict

President John Mahama has come under fire from angry Kusasi youth over rising tension in the Bawku area.

President Mahama, the angry youth said, got the youth Kusaug to massively vote for him to become President, after he promised them to end the conflict if they voted for him as President.

The youth, however, are now accusing the President of not showing concern over their plight, with more people being killed since he assumed office three months ago.

"Mr President, when we heard your promise to bring a lasting solution to the Bawku conflict, we were overwhelmed by it and thought the NDC was our saviour.

That was why Kusaug gave the NPP zero and voted massively for the NDC," the youth group said at a press briefing.

"Mr President, you indeed mentioned the truth that the overlord Naana Asigri Azorka II is the legitimate chief of Kusaug, and everyone knows that.

Now, what has changed Mr. President? We didn't know it would take you so long to solve the Bawku issue when we voted you into power."

The group said rather than seeing peace in Bawku, as promised by President Mahama, the situation has worsened, with about 18 deaths since Mahama took over as President.

" Your Excellency, the President, did you know that since your assumption of office as President, more than 18 people have been killed in this Bawku conflict, including women and children.

Is that what you want Mr President?"

The youth expressed disappointment that President Mahama used them for his political advantage, further slamming the penchant for politicians to take advantage of the Bawku conflict.

"We now realise that the politicians are using the Bawku conflict for their selfish political gains.

Politicians keep dividing us with the fake promises to bring lasting peace to Bawku, just for us to vote them into power."

"It will surprise politicians to see empty ballot boxes without a single vote cast come  2028. We are now tired of the fake promises of politicians.
