No secret recruitment going on at K’si Training school – Police

General News
IGP Dr George Akuffo Dampare

The Ghana Police Service has denied claims of a secret recruitment exercise at the Kumasi Police Training School in the Ashanti Region.

The Police says the allegations are baseless and urged the public to disregard them.

In a statement released on Wednesday, 07 September 2024, on Facebook, the police clarified that a special operation in Kumasi had resulted in the arrest of 487 suspects linked to the QNET Ponzi scheme on Monday, September 2.

Due to the sheer number of detainees, the suspects were temporarily held at the training school for screening as part of the investigation.

The police noted: "However, while the screening was ongoing, some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) besieged the training school claiming they had heard of an ongoing secret recruitment at the school."

According to the statement, the NDC members left after realising that no such recruitment was taking place.

The police reiterated, "We, therefore, urge the public to disregard the claim of the said secret recruitment exercise and treat it with the contempt it deserves."

The police have appealed to the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and to rely on official sources for accurate updates on security matters.
