New WAPCo Managing Director engages with GRIDCo CEO to strengthen collaborative ties

In a significant step towards reinforcing operational synergy and partnership, the recently appointed Managing Director of the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo), Michelle Burkett, embarked on an official visit to meet with Chief Executive of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Ing Ebenezer Kofi Essienyi.

The encounter underscored the historical rapport between the two organisations and set the stage for a period of enhanced operational efficiency under Ms Burkett's stewardship.

This meeting, conducted in an atmosphere of optimism and cooperation, laid the groundwork for a future marked by streamlined operations and mutual progress.

Accompanying Ms Burkett was General Manager of Corporate Affairs at WAPCo Dr Isaac Adjei Doku. Dr Doku highlighted the significance of Ms Burkett's role, as she takes over the mantle from Mr. Gregory Germani, who has assumed a new position at Chevron Pipeline & Power in Houston, Texas. He acknowledged the seamless transition and the enduring legacy of WAPCo's commendable work.

During the engagement, the WAPCo Managing Director commended the history of collaboration shared between WAPCo and GRIDCo, emphasising the importance of transparent communication, particularly in challenging circumstances. Recognising GRIDCo as a pivotal downstream partner, she expressed her commitment to nurturing and strengthening this strategic alliance.

Speaking of her vision, Ms. Burkett conveyed her dedication to maintaining a robust and open relationship between the two entities, striving for operational excellence and consistent engagement. She emphasized the significance of transparent and effective communication, especially during times of complexity.

Highlighting the reciprocal nature of cooperation, the Director of Southern Network Operations at GRIDCo Ing Mark Baah, revealed the company's proactive plans to support WAPCo's operations through Safety and Risk Management training sessions. This gesture serves to underscore GRIDCo's commitment to facilitating WAPCo's endeavors within a safe and supportive environment.

Also present at the meeting were key figures from both organisations, including the Director of Finance; Mr Samuel Nkansah; the Manager for Dispatch, Ing Stephen Debrah, and the Manager of the Executive Office, Wofa Kojo Kwarteng.
