National Chief Imam inaugurates maiden PuSMAG
On June 22, 2024, the Public Servants’ Muslim Association of Ghana (PuSMAG) was officially inaugurated at the residence of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharabutu, in a brief ceremony.
During the event, the Chairman of PuSMAG outlined the Association's objective to enhance the welfare of Muslim public servants and utilize their expertise to further the development of Muslims specifically and Ghanaians in general.
The Chairman, Abdul-Samaad Abubakar, highlighted the Association's objectives, which include:
Promoting the socio-religious development and general welfare of Muslim public servants in Ghana.
Serving as the representative voice of Muslim public servants in Ghana.
Providing a platform for members to network, share knowledge, ideas, and experiences on issues affecting Muslim public servants in Ghana.
Encouraging the involvement of Muslim public servants in the activities of public service organizations and Muslim communities.
Among others are offering guidance and sharing experiences with the Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA) and the broader Muslim community.
Facilitating access to educational and training opportunities for members and the Muslim community.
Collaborating with relevant stakeholders in the implementation of specific projects.
Mentoring young Muslims to achieve greater professional and career success in Ghana and beyond.
Promoting the interests and welfare of members and the Muslim community, he enumerated
The National Chief Imam on his part, expressed his enthusiasm for the Association's goals, commending their actions as laudable.
He urged members to uphold values such as unity, service, excellence, and integrity to achieve the Association's objectives.
He emphasized that divisiveness has never benefited any society and that every effort should be made to maintain unity among the Association's members.
The PuSMAG Constitution was adopted in May 2023 by a diverse group of Muslim public servants.
Membership is open to individuals employed in state institutions, commonly referred to as public servants.
The Association is national in scope and maintains a non-partisan, non-political, non-sectarian, non-ethnic, and non-tribal stance.
