N/R: HUDAI Foundation builds, officially opens 4 mechanised boreholes
The Human Development Association International (HUDAI) Foundation, a Turkish-based nonprofit organisation, in collaboration with its subsidiary, the Education and Social Relief Agency (ESRA) in Tamale, has opened four electric mechanised boreholes in the Northern Region.
These projects are part of a target of 100 boreholes the organisation seeks to construct. They are for underprivileged communities where there is a lack of potable water.
The management of HUDAI, led by the Assistant Country Director, Mr Mehmet Emin and the Executive Director of ESRA, Sheikh Mohammed Nazir, held separate short ceremonies at Zugu in the Kumbungu district; Sang SHS in the Mion district, Yendi SHS and Dagbon State SHS in the Yendi municipality to officially open the boreholes for use.
Inaugurating the facilities on behalf of the HUDAI Foundation, Mr Emin admonished the people to jealously safeguard the projects and always keep it clean and hygienic. He advised the people to report any fault to the agency for proper maintenance and pray to God for more blessings.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Class News, Sheikh Nazir explained that the priority of the organisation is to empower the needy and vulnerable in society, especially in Muslim communities.
Consequently, he said the organisation constructed the mechanised boreholes in the deprived communities to enable the inhabitants to have access to potable water.
More than 30 communities in Tamale and the adjoining districts have benefitted from similar projects.
Each project cost the organisation between GHS14, 000 and GH15, 000, depending on the location of the borehole. Sheikh Nazir commended the government of Turkey and the philanthropist who made donations to support the construction of the boreholes to enhance the wellbeing of Muslims in the area.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Headmaster in charge of domestic affairs at Yendi SHS thanked the foundation for the borehole. He also appealed for more support, especially, the construction of a school mosque.
