Farmers' day: Nov. 8 not a public holiday – Interior Ministry
The Ministry of the Interior has officially announced that Friday, 8 November 2024, will not be recognised as a public holiday, despite being designated for the 2024 National Farmers' Day celebration.
This clarification was made in a statement issued by the Interior Ministry, signed by the sector Minister, Henry Quartey on Tuesday, 5 November 2024.
The statement confirmed that while National Farmers' Day will be celebrated on November 8, it will not be a public holiday.
Instead, the ministry emphasised that the statutory holiday for Farmers' Day will remain on Friday, 6 December, 2024, to be observed across the nation.
This decision follows the Ministry of Food and Agriculture's earlier announcement that the 40th edition of National Farmers' Day will take place in the Greater Accra Region, with no regional-level celebrations planned for this year.
However, each region will still be allowed to nominate winners for ten award categories.
The awards will be presented at an Awards Night Ceremony on November 8 at 4:00 p.m. at the Alisa Hotel in North Ridge, where Regional Ministers will honour nominees from their respective regions.
The ministry emphasised that awardees must travel to Accra for this special event.
