President Akufo-Addo is advocating increased transparency and accountability within the judiciary, stressing that public trust is vital for the effective functioning of Ghana's democracy.

The President asserted that judges must adhere to the highest standards of conduct to foster public confidence in the justice system.

During a ceremony at the Jubilee House, where he administered the Oath of Allegiance, the Judicial Oath, and the Oath of Secrecy, President Akufo-Addo urged the judges to dispense justice impartially and without bias.

“The judiciary should be free from any form of external influence or interference, whether political, economic, or social. Only by preserving this independence can we ensure that justice is administered impartially," he stated.

He emphasised the importance of protecting citizens' rights and fulfilling the judges' oath to act without fear or favour.

He stressed the need for continued efforts toward greater transparency and accountability in the judiciary, noting that public trust is essential for the effective functioning of democracy.

“It is therefore incumbent upon us to ensure that our judicial processes are open and transparent and that judges are held to the highest standards of conduct,” the President added.

President Akufo-Addo also highlighted the need for innovative solutions to address the backlog of cases in the courts.

“One of the key challenges that we face is the need to address the backlog of cases that continue to burden our courts. Justice delayed, as we already know, is justice denied.

“It is imperative that we find innovative solutions to expedite the resolution of cases to ensure that justice is delivered in a timely manner," he said.

He called for efficient case management and the adoption of new technologies and practices to streamline judicial processes and ensure timely delivery of justice
