Three drivers who contributed to the team’s success also received GHC700 each, totaling GHC2,100.The celebratory gathering, held at Margins ID Group’s office, brought together MOBA’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and the winning NSMQ team.
Mr. Baiden Jnr highlighted the excitement this victory has generated within the MOBA community, with alumni worldwide enthusiastically raising funds to recognize the achievement.
He commended the NEC's commitment to supporting Mfantsipim’s educational programmes, including the NSMQ team, emphasizing the need for a sustainable approach to promote science and mathematics excellence.
"Historically, some funding was provided, but it’s time for a more sustainable model that fosters learning—not only for the quiz but to cultivate talent in science and mathematics.
We’re looking to revamp the programme structure for impactful, lasting results," he stated.
Mr. Baiden Jnr shared MOBA’s vision for a sustainable partnership with Mfantsipim School, emphasizing the need for robust planning to secure the future of various initiatives.
He announced that several committees led by NEC members are currently overseeing key projects, including the NSMQ and long-term collaboration with the school.
The 2024 NSMQ victory, which saw Mfantsipim School narrowly beat St. Augustine’s College by a single point, marked the school’s third NSMQ championship win, adding to their previous titles in 1999 and 2014.
In recognition of their accomplishment, the Mfantsipim team received gold medals and a cash prize of GHC70,000.
Reflecting on MOBA’s legacy, Mr. Baiden Jnr underscored the NEC’s dedication to sustaining the 150-year-old tradition of cultivating Ghana’s future leaders through quality education.
“Our legacy has produced role models who embody resilience and determination.
We aim to reignite that spirit, reminding students that obstacles can be overcome, inspired by our founders' vision of accessible quality education and African nationalism,” he emphasized.
As part of their ongoing initiatives, the NEC announced a strategic business plan encompassing the NSMQ programme, sports facilities, an endowment fund, alumni network digitization, and strengthened relationships with the Methodist Church.
In honour of their victory, the NEC appointed the three winning contestants as brand ambassadors for Mfantsipim’s 150th-anniversary celebration, which will continue until 2026.
The MOBA leadership encouraged the NSMQ team to remain focused on their studies and continue serving as role models.
NEC members also pledged additional support for the NSMQ team, with contributions to be formally announced at the upcoming Speech and Prize Giving Day.
Margins ID Group concluded the gathering with a celebratory lunch to honour the NSMQ champions and reinforce MOBA’s dedication to advancing the success of Mfantsipim School and its students.
