Panellists on the late evening news analysis programme dubbed the ‘Citizen Show’ have commended the management of Class Media Group (CMG), operators of Accra 100.5 FM, for giving the show a prime time slot. 

The show hosted by Nana Bobie Ansah will from Wednesday, February 1, 2023, start airing from 2:00PM to 6:00PM Monday-Friday. 

The show will concurrently be aired on Accra-based CTV also belonging to the CMG brand.

According to the panelists, coming on the show was problematic stemming from the time the show starts and ends. 

They argued that the initial time of 7:00pm made it difficult for people to willingly appear on the show because it ran too late into the night.

The re-launch event saw the former running mate to former president John Dramani Mahama, Prof Jean Naana Opoku Agyemang; Mr Raymond Archer, ace journalist; Francis Addae Nimoh, one of the aspiring flagbearers in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) race for the 2024 general; Rex Omar, a renowned musician; Samuel Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of NDC in attendance.       

The others are: Prof Joshua Alabi, the NDC’s 2020 Campaign Manager; Mr Awuah Darko, former Chief Executive Officer for the Bulk Oil, Storage and Transport (BOST); Mr Akwasi Addai Odike, founder and leader of the United Front Party (UFP); Mensah Thompson, Executive Director of ASEPA among others 

Speaking at the re-launch of the show today, Monday, 30 January 2023 at the forecourt of CMG at the plush Labone area in Accra, Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region, Mr Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa commended the management of the company for reviewing the time for airing the show.

He pledged his support for the show and urged the host and his team to continue to be fearless in delivering their mandate as the Fourth Estate of the realm.

For his part, Mr Sammy Gyamfi pledged the NDC’s support for the show.

He added that the show is a movement bigger than just a talk show because of the role it plays in getting listeners, and viewers enlightened on issues of national interest.

He predicted that the show in the next three months will become the talk of the town.

He said the timing for the show was appropriate because many Ghanaians have given up on Ghana because of the way some media organisations handle issues of national interest in recent times.

Re-launching the show, Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang noted that Ghana used to be second in Africa and first in the ECOWAS sub-region when it comes to media freedom.

She was categorical in saying the country has lost that glory because of the subtle censorship on the part of the current government. 

She said Ghana needs to repossess its lost glory in the media freedom space.

The host of the Citizen Show on the other hand thanked the participants for coming and pledged to live up to the expectation of the listeners.
