Accra Academy reveals details about viral video showing student flogging a fellow with a cutlass
Accra Academy Senior High School has said the scene from a viral video showing “a student of the school flogging a colleague with a cutlass” happened on January 17, 2025.
According to the school, they “have identified all the students involved, and their parents have been contacted.
“Some of the parents have responded, and their statements have been taken.”
“The student who perpetrated the act has been handed over to the police for further interrogation,” it added in a statement signed by the school management.
The popular Accra-based school said, “It is understandable that this incident has caused alarm and worry among our parents and guardians, and we want to assure you that we take this matter very seriously.
“As soon as the video came to our attention, we Sprang into action to investigate and address the situation.”
Identifying the students from the viral video by name, the school added, “Preliminary investigation reveals that the matchet used by the boys was brought from their home and not taken from the school.”

CASE OF THREE FORM THREE BOYS AND A FORM ONE BOY SEEN IN A VIRAL VIDEO BULLYING SOME STUDENTS
This is to address the concerns and fears that have been raised regarding a trending video on social media, which appears to show a student from our school flogging a colleague with a cutlass.
It is understandable that this incident has caused alarm and worry among our parents and guardians, and we want to assure you that we take this matter very seriously.
As soon as the video came to our attention, we Sprang into action to investigate and address the situation.
Here are the facts:
1. The incident did not happen recently, but rather almost two weeks ago, 17/1/25. The victims did not report the incident to the school authorities until the video surfaced on social media and management's attention was drawn to it.
2. We have identified all the students involved, and their parents have been contacted. Some of the parents have responded, and their statements have been taken.
3. The student who perpetrated the act has been handed over to the police for further interrogation.
4. The students involved in the act are all day students and have been asked to stay away from the school pending further investigation.
5. The perpetrators of the act are: Shadad Aliu a.k.a. Kester (1VA 1), Haleem Jibril a.k.a Chopper (3 Business 5), Ahmed Dauda, a.k.a Foreinger (3 General Art 5), and Richard Ninsin a.k.a Poisonous (3 General Art 5) - The victims are: Samuel Ussher (1 Science 10), Kingsford Quayson (1 Science 10), Stephen Oteng (1 Science 10), and Dominic Awuku Adjei (1 General Arts 2).
6. Preliminary investigation reveals that the matchet used by the boys was brought from their home and not taken from the school.
7. The matter is still under investigation by the School's disciplinary committee and all stakeholders will accordingly be informed of the outcome.
