Guru NKZ has stated he is not negatively impacted by publicly supporting the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flagbearer Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.

As Ghana goes to the polls on Saturday, December 7, 2024, Guru has released a song for Dr Bawumia titled Fa Steer No Ma Me (Give Me the Steering Wheel).

Rap star Guru spoke to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM's Ayekoo Ayekoo, Monday, September 16.

"If I say I have been negatively affected, I'd be lying. If it were so, I would have plainly told you," Guru said. "I do things out of conviction."

He emphasised, "Also, my fans are too discerning and not partisan. They admire me for who I am. They love my songs because they can relate to the stories in them."

He said, he made a name before he got into politics and his fans understand this.

"Brands supporting themselves is only normal; it helps the work progress. Once I like your idealogy, I am okay to support your party," the entrepreneur noted.

The University of Ghana (UG) Students Representative Council (SRC) presidential candidate said irrespective of his political affiliation and that of his fellow students and fans, he is loved "and they tell me it is because of such things as my humility".

"People love you for who you are based on how you react to them, and that's what I've realised," he stressed.

Guru said he does not disrespect others of a different political cloth, and when he is booked for shows, it is for his artistry and not his political opinion.
