Stonebwoy: 'Brother', 'good friend' Gyan offered to settle my surgery bill after a birthday concert performance

Speaking on the New York City-based Breakfast Club radio programme, Ghana's Stonebwoy has revealed how Asamoah Gyan offered to pay for his leg surgery. 

He had gone to perform at Asamoah Gyan’s birthday concert and Gyan asked him about his right leg.

After telling him the story, the Ghana Black Stars legendary striker asked, “How much would it cost to do it [get it fixed]?”

Stonebwoy told Gyan he was scheduled for the surgery the next month on the 3rd [of March 2016].

At this, Stonebwoy recalls Gyan requesting that the bill for the surgery be sent to him.

“I did, and he just wired the money to the hospital,” he narrated to DJ Envy, Charlamagne the god and guest host Nene Leaks. “I told him [at] that time that, the time was gonna come when I was gonna let the world know and I think this is the time so…”

“It’s big news back home because we understand what it means and who he is as a person,” the decorated singer and businessman stated.

For the record, he stated that Gyan “is a very good friend of mine; he’s been like a brother of mine from time and people didn’t know it was this deep, until I came out to say that then they had a different picture.”

At 13, Stonebwoy had an accident on the Tema Motorway while with his father a siblings. They were returning to Ashaiman. A police car going the opposite direction drove into their car resulting in leg injury.

"I was stuck in the hospital for almost six months," he also said. "I remember paying my bills later after I was out hustling on the street because I had arrears to pay."

On Thursday, January 26, Stonebwoy, for the first time announced to the world that football star and businessman Asamoah Gyan funded his leg surgery in Germany seven years ago.

Nicknamed 1Gad, the 'Therapy' hitmaker is performing at the Palladium in Times Square on the 3rd of March. 

His fifth album will be released in the same month.
