Ghanaian make-up artist Roselyn Akosua Mantey has made history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest marathon make-up session, completing an extraordinary 103 hours, 25 minutes, and 33 seconds of non-stop artistry.

With eight years of experience in the beauty industry, Akosua Mantey’s record-breaking feat was not only a personal milestone but a powerful statement on the potential of skilled young people in Ghana.

Speaking at a press conference following her achievement, she emphasized that her goal was to shine a spotlight on the importance of empowering the youth through skill development.

“This was not just about breaking a record,” she said. “It was about showing the world what young people with skills can achieve. I want to use this platform to inspire and uplift others.”

As part of her broader vision, Akosua Mantey launched the “Got A SKILL” initiative—an empowerment programme designed to provide hands-on training and mentorship to young people in the beauty and creative arts industries.

In response, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has pledged its support to Mantey and other creatives as part of its efforts to promote self-employment and youth development.

Speaking on behalf of the GTA CEO, the Deputy CEO, Mr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, popularly known as Abeiku Santana, lauded Mantey’s achievement and expressed pride in her dedication and success.

“Roselyn’s accomplishment is not just a win for her, but a moment of national pride.

It reflects the incredible talent and determination that exists within Ghana’s creative space,” he said.
