Dec 7 polls: Bawumia's digitalisation, App launch spree are designed to deceive – Abeiku Santana
"It's all lies, it's leading nowhere, and will not be productive," popular radio personality Abeiku Santana has said about the many Apps the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) now led by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, has rolled out so far.
Concerning the GMX music streaming App recently launched by Dr Bawumia, Santana said: "It's all lies."
Even "the biggest music destination in Africa, Nigeria," he argued, does not have a government-launched App.
He reminded the audience at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) rally: "That's what happened with the Ghana Post App. Ask any [electronic hailing taxi] driver if they use that App, when Google has already captured the entire world via satellite onto the Google Map for us to use..."
"When COVID-19 came, they told us they had brought a COVID App. They are launching Apps every day. And this is how they are deceiving people, and receiving applause. It's all deception. It'll come to naught," Santana doubled down.
He advised his audience to guard themselves against the deceptive tactics of the ruling party via 'their digitalisation agenda".
"Ask yourself what real value or benefit comes to me from all this?" he urged.
To contrast, Abeiku Santana led his audience to recognise former President John Mahama of the NDC as the presidential candidate with genuine and productive intentions for the creative arts and tourism industry.
"His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is going to establish a TV channel that will house local content from all of you who create film. If you want to view that channel, you pay. Events at the [Accra International] Conference Centre in Accra, if you're in Kumasi and so couldn't attend, this dedicated TV channel will allow you to watch what is happening live, and you only have to pay via mobile money. The money you pay will go to the artiste, producer, and others.
"These are the good programmes on the way," as "we have end-to-end policies, programmes and ideas that are going to transform the creative arts and tourism sector," he emphasised.
The Citizen App, and GoRide App, are some more of the Apps launched by the NPP's Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Ghana goes to the polls on Saturday, December 7.
