Criss Waddle frames Alabaster Box as 'wicked, desperate bullies' for money suing Medikal over alleged IP infringement

Rapper and businessman Criss Waddle has reacted to Gospel group Alabaster Box suing rapper Medikal over an alleged intellectual property (IP) infringement.
In an X post from Thursday, April 17, 2025, Waddle appeared to mock Alabaster Box, framing the a cappella singers as bullies who were desperate for money.
“Life is not easy. To see Christian musicians sue their son’s age mate for money still surprises me. I wonder what you’d have done were you not god-fearing,” Criss Waddle remarked.

When X user @amegazo pushed back saying, “It’s a legal issue, it has nothing to do with Christianity or secular beliefs. Tell your son to do the right thing,” Waddle insinuated Alabaster Box was demonstrating greed that he expected only from secular musicians.
“If they were [secular] musicians, I will understand. But Gospel? [rolling on the floor laughing emojis]. You ask to be paid but to ask for 15 million cedis? How much does a whole album generate? If you want to be wicked don’t add Christianity to your identity,” he said.
Samuel Adu Frimpong alias Medikal’s latest song Welcome to Africa was released with what sounded like a performance of a portion of Alabaster Box’s hit Akwaaba (Welcome) as an intro.
The rapper was cautioned by lawyers of the singers to pull down song, and declare how much he had made from it since its release, among other things.
In a subsequent suit, Alabaster Box’s lawyers noted only YouTube no longer had the contentious intro, with digital streaming platforms (DSPs) like Spotify, Audiomack, Boomplay, and others still showcasing it. Thus, the suit noted Alabaster Box demanded GHS10 million in general damages for Medikal’s alleged copyright infringement.
