The title-track for Gospel singer Francis Amo’s new album was inspired by a classic by Highlife legend Obuoba J.A. Adofo.

Amo revealed this to Prince Benjamin (PB) on Accra 100.5 FM’s Entertainment Capital.

“I was going home after a gig. I was driving when I heard Yaa Boatemaa playing. The song was entering me. The bass was hitting me at my sides. That’s when the words started coming to me. I recorded it immediately. I didn’t sleep that night when I got home. I programmed the song and called my boys and instructed them to come to the studio the next day without fail. We played the song live the very next day,” he enthusiastically narrated.

“So in 2024, during our Gathering of Worshippers concert in Sogakope – I do my concerts outside Accra when I come back home to Ghana, by God’s grace – we used the beat. God bless the man [Adofo] for me. The moment I heard the beat, I recognised there was something special in the rhythm.”

Francis Amo said he would go and “appreciate” Adofo by paying a courtesy call on his family.

He highlighted Adofo was an inspiration.

“I like him very much. I’ve seen his old videos and how he performs. I picked a lot of things from him,” he revealed.

Amo fondly remembered, incidentally, “In the 90s, he [Adofo] came to do a concert in Abora, Pedu, Cape Coast. I was a little boy but I was there. We climbed coconut trees to watch the concert.”

On February 24, 2025, the hour-long Ahummoboro (Mercy) album of seven tracks was released. Listen to the opener and title-track below:
