Africa Cinema Summit: Prof Samuel Ntewusu, Scilla Owusu, 3 others speak as Idris Elba headlines
Speakers for day-one of the second Africa Cinema Summit have been revealed.
This was observed via an X post made by one of the speakers, Ghanaian-British filmmaker Scilla Owusu.
Five in total, Ms Owusu will be joined on the panel by the Director of the Institute of African Studies (IAS), University of Ghana (UG), Prof Samuel Ntewusu; medical doctor, former Nigerian MP, and the Deputy Secretary-General for the Union of Writers from Africa, Asia and Latin America, Dr Wale Okediran; Senior Archivist, IAS, UG, Judith Opoku; and renowned poet and playwright Chief Moomen.
The above will address the audience on Monday, October 7, 2024, on Preservation of African History and Documentary Heritage through African Storytelling.
Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra, is the venue for the 2024 Africa Cinema Summit headlined by British movie superstar of Ghanaian heritage, and Chairman of the IE7 & The Akuna Group Idris Elba. Themed 'The Relevance of Cinema in African Communities', the programme will end on October 10.
Special guests for the three-day programme include Ga Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II;Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MoTAC) Andrew Agyapa Mercer; Minister of State for Youth & Arts, Rwanda, Umotoni Sandrine and Head of UNESCO, Accra Office, Edmond Moukala.
The 2024 Africa Cinema Summit will be hosted by radio and TV personality Kpekpo Maxwell Justice (KMJ).
Ms Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante, CEO of the National Film Authority (NFA) is the convener of the Africa Cinema Summit.
