Sports Minister rallies Black Princesses ahead of FIFA U20 WWC
Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports, met with the Black Princesses team before their journey to Colombia for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
This marks Ghana’s 17th consecutive appearance in the tournament, with the team eager to progress beyond the group stages for the first time.
Accompanied by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, the Minister delivered an inspiring message to the team, urging them to make Ghana proud.
"On behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, I am here to bid you a hopeful farewell as you embark on this journey to represent the entire country. The GFA President has spoken, and I want to reassure you that the entire government is behind you," Minister Ussif said.
He emphasised the efforts made to support the team, saying, "Everything that we are supposed to put in place, you can testify that we have done that beautifully. We addressed the challenges during your camp in Cape Coast to ensure your preparations were successful."
"As you leave the shores of our country, be confident that we are with you," he continued. "You are not just representing yourselves, your families, or your communities; you are representing the entire nation. Keep this at the forefront of your minds."
"When you step onto the pitch, remember that you are carrying the hopes and dreams of over 30 million Ghanaians. Every decision you make on the field reflects the emotions and passions of our people. So, give your all to represent us with pride."
Minister Ussif assured the team of the government's support, stating, "We will ensure that all logistics and financial needs are met. Your only focus should be on doing your best to elevate the flag of our beloved country in Colombia. As the President mentioned, it would bring me immense joy to welcome you back to Kotoka International Airport with the trophy. Go out there, enjoy the game, and make us proud by bringing glory back home."
