Qatar 2022: Ghana’s qualification shaky after 1-1 draw with Ethiopia
The Black Stars of Ghana reduced their chances of qualifying to the 22 World Cup in Qatar when the team failed to beat Ethiopia on Thursday afternoon in South Africa in their last but one qualifying game.
Ghana were in need of victory to pile pressure on leaders South Africa but failed to win the game as they threw away a one goal lead to draw at the Orlando stadium.
Captain of the side Andre Ayew got the lead for Ghana in the first half with a delicious free kick in 22nd minute after Yiadom was brought down outside the box.
The team, however, looked disjointed in the second 45 minutes as Ethiopia dominated play.
Getaneh Kebede scored the equaliser on the 72nd minute after a faulty defensive play by the Ghanaian team.
The game finished 1-1 with the Ethiopians leaving the pitch the happier team.
Ghana has 10 points after five games and must beat the Bafana Bafana of South Africa convincingly on Sunday in Cape Coast to qualify for the playoffs spot.
