Palmer: I accept CAS verdict in good faith
The President of Tema Youth Football Club, Wilfred Kwaku Osei 'Palmer' has said he accepts the verdict of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) “in good faith.”
Palmer, in a press statement released on 2 September 2020, noted that even though he has issues with the main grounds for the delivery of the final verdict, it ends the “long legal tussle.”
Describing it as “a victory for Ghana football”, the Tema Youth FC bankroller asked all other stakeholders “to continue to pool our resources to move Ghana football forward to reach the desired height that we all wish for.”
The CAS dismissed Palmer’s appeal against the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on 1 September 2020.
The verdict confirmed the decision by the FA Elections Committee to disqualify him from contesting the 2019 GFA presidential elections.
The CAS verdict means that the substantive GFA president, Mr Kurk Okraku, still holds his office.
The GFA elections will not be re-run.
Palmer dragged the GFA to court because he believed he was disqualified “unfairly” from the GFA presidential race.
