President of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Abraham NeeQuaye Kotei, has branded Isaac ‘The Royal Storm’ Dogboe as the beacon of boxing in Ghana ahead of his WBO Featherweight title fight against Cuban boxer Robeisy Ramirez.

The bout is scheduled for April this year in the United States of America.

The deal comes just few days after Dogboe was instructed to enter talks with Philippine Mark Magsayo for an ordered WBC title eliminator.

However, the former world champion has Ramirez between him and the two-time world champion accolade. The two clash for the WBO featherweight title which was rendered vacant as a result of Emmanuel Navarette’s move to the super featherweight division.

Speaking ahead of the bout in a press conference, the Ghana Boxing Authority President, Mr Kotei lauded Isaac Dogboe as the beacon of Ghana boxing for up-and-coming young boxers.

“Isaac has been a world champion before. He is a boxer I know cannot be stopped by boxers in his weight division.

“Though we have other boxers at the world level, we always believe in Isaac Dogboe as the face of Ghana boxing at the world level,” Mr Kotei lauded.

The Royal Storm has won 24 out of his 26 fights for Ghana, 16 by knockout, 8 by decision and lost 2.

He emerged winner from a split decision against Joet Gonzalez to book this ticket at the Grand Casino, Hinckley USA in July 2022.

That result also earned him the WBC International title, shooting him into the number two contender position. 

The Ghanaian is also required to stage a final eliminator for the WBC belt but wants to concentrate on the April assignment for now.

Dogboe’s opponent, Ramirez is a true amateur standout for Cuba, winning gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, and came into the pro game with a ton of hype.

He was shocked in his pro debut in August 2019, losing a four-round decision, but has since truly come into his own and started looking like everything he was meant to be.

In 2022, the 29-year-old southpaw fought three times, stopping Eric Donovan (TKO-3), Abraham Nova (KO-5), and Matias Romero (TKO-9) in February, June, and October.

Ghana’s Isaac Dogboe will be hoping to continue from where he left off last year, in the New Year, with victory over the Cuban Boxer Robeisy Ramirez Boxer later in April.
