You lost NPP flagbearership due to your internal politics, not 'systemic mafia' – NEIP boss tells Alan Kyerematen

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has rejected Alan Kyerematen's claims that a “systemic mafia” within the governing party caused his loss in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership race.

Mr. Nkansah’s remarks follow comments made by Mr. Kyerematen, who suggested that an internal conspiracy undermined his presidential ambitions.

The NEIP CEO urged Mr. Kyerematen, who left the NPP to form the Movement for Change following his defeat, to take personal responsibility for his loss in the party’s recent presidential primaries.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Nkansah dismissed these allegations, arguing that Mr. Kyerematen’s loss was due to his own campaign strategy rather than external forces.

"Dear Chief Alan, you have yourself to blame for not becoming the next NPP flag-bearer after Prez Akufo-Addo because of how you did your internal politics, not because of any systemic mafia or bad register," Mr. Nkansah wrote.

He emphasised that the NPP primaries were conducted fairly, with all candidates given an equal chance to win the support of delegates.

According to Mr. Nkansah, Mr. Kyerematen’s failure stemmed from his inability to build a strong grassroots base and connect with party members at the local level.

Other candidates, he noted, were able to engage with delegates effectively, resulting in stronger performances at the polls.

Mr. Nkansah further criticised Mr. Kyerematen for attributing his loss to external factors, advising him to reflect on his own approach to the campaign.

“If system support resulted in automatic wins, you would have won the NPP 2007 primaries,” Mr. Nkansah added, pointing to Mr. Kyerematen’s previous loss as evidence that internal politics, not conspiracy, determined the outcome.
